MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SPECIAL EDUCATION
The Ministry of Education determines student need based on pre-determined criteria, and assigns a Ministry designation, which determines what support is required. These categories of designation are as follows:
English Language Learners
An English Language Learning student is defined as a student enrolled in a B.C. school who needs additional English language development support in order to access the provincially mandated curriculum and succeed in the academic environment.
